@dwight, just thinking out loud, but if you’re still soliciting feedback for future app features, I’d love it if there was a way to display the daily record high/low for each day, directly on the app’s home screen with the daily forecast card. This feels like a light lift in terms of data—all we’d need is a static list that we update quarterly or on some other slow interval and store on the backend, and we could keep it constrained to just the official IAH/HOU data instead of getting complicated and trying to maintain different lists for different areas.
(There’s probably other list update strategies we could look at, like re-grabbing as official records are broken, but even just a simple static list refreshed on a fixed basis would be a good start, as long as it doesn’t go stale too quickly in the face of too many records.)
Maybe the endgame could be folding it all into a “Today in weather history” card with daily stats (record high/low, average high/low, historical rain stats, and maybe any outstanding weather events, like historic hurricane landfalls)? Though obviously that becomes another data updating task that we have to automate and check on.
