Humidity at dawn

Hi! I’ve noticed a strange phenomenon and I’m wondering if I’m imagining it or if it might be a real thing: I am a runner and often out running before the sun comes up. Just before dawn until just after (a 3-8 min window or so) the humidity seems to drop and I also notice a slight breeze. I also notice this right around sunset. Is this a real meteorological occurrence?

That sounds like the daily boundary layer transition cycle! The rising sun pumps radiative energy into ground which has been cool (or, in Houston, “cool”) during the night, which creates waves of turbulence in the previously-still air; the effect follows the sun as the Earth rotates and sunrise spreads. Definitely a real phenomenon!
