Houston to face widespread rain showers this weekend, followed by a stronger front next week

This is absolutely good news. Street flooding and intense lightning are not a problem. Seriously, intense lightning? That’s called a thunderstorm.
Storms are dangerous in the way eating is dangerous: it might cause you to get germs in your mouth, but I’m not about to give up eating on that account.

The moisture from Melissa is not coming anywhere near here. I may be wrong, but I think its position will actually funnel in relatively less moist air from the east of Houston and prevent much of the warm southern Gulf air to get pulled into Texas.
